Views of Glasson Basin under Threat

Maritime Festival
The Maritime Festival - this site is planned to become a reserved car park and toilet block
The view across to the village. The picnic table marks the site of the proposed shower and toilet block. The whole stretch across to the far side is set to be occupied by 86 moorings mainly for narrowboats on floating pontoons just beyond the wall to the right of the picture.
From the path at the back of the primary school. The reed beds in front and to the left are a haven for nesting birds including grebes, swans and coots. In the plan this will be occupied by boats and jetties stretching across most of the expanse of visible water.
Looking towards the school from the car park. There will be ranks of narrowboats in the foreground and jetties up to double the existing length in the middle of the basin.
Glasson Basin from the car park
Watching boats locking out into the dock. The jetties in the distance are planned to more or less double in length, roughly halving the large water space in the foreground used for canoeing, dinghy sailing and other water sports.
